Sizzling Ways to Save Money This Summer | Richard Banks & Associates, P.C.
Summer is officially here, and the heat is in full blast already! Just because the temperatures are rising, doesn’t mean that your expenses must as well, so our team at Richard Banks & Associates has compiled a list of summer savings your family can utilize!
1. Turn up the air conditioning. Yes, we know that summer in Tennessee can be stifling, but the savings can add up by raising the temperature on your thermostat by even one degree! Each degree can equal a 3 percent savings on your energy bill. Energy Star has a number of great suggestions that will help you efficiently cool your home.
2. Don’t break the bank on summer camps. For every pricy summer camp out there for your child, there are a handful of others that won’t leave your bank account drained. All it takes is a few phone calls to find the one that will be right for your child and your finances. Community centers, churches and the local newspaper can be great resources for learning about potential summer camps.
3. Don’t water the grass every day. If you’re a yard enthusiast, this suggestion might be painful, but by cutting back on how often the lawn is watered, you’ll notice a dip in the water bill. Try to keep it to every five to seven days, and if there’s a good summer storm, your yard could be good for up to two weeks.
4. Turn down the hot water. Did you know that turning down the hot water heater is a quick and easy way to save money? Once again, this is another impact that you’ll notice on the utility bill!
5. Plan a staycation. Going on vacation is nice, but Bradley County is blessed to be located right next to a national forest and near some excellent state parks. Take advantage of all the area has to offer and save money by either coming back home in the evening or setting up camp in Cherokee National Forest!
The temperatures are hot. By following some of these suggestions, your summer savings can be hot as well!
If cutting back isn’t proving enough to benefit your financial situation, Richard Banks & Associates, P.C. is here to walk you through the bankruptcy process.
