4 Tips for Saving Money This Fall
Fall is in full swing and that means that winter is waiting in the wings! Our team at Richard Banks & Associates would love to take a few moments to go over some money-saving tips for the fall that will help get you ready for those winter doldrums.
1. Look for fall sales. Maybe you don’t need to be concerned with sales on Halloween décor and apparel, but fall is chock-full of sales that could benefit your wallet! Did you know that many stores break out their big sales around Veteran’s Day? It’s true, Nov. 11 is often thought of as a precursor to Black Friday. While the discounts may not be quite as much as on Black Friday, they are still a great way to get a jump-start on holiday shopping or even pick up some things you may need for yourself.
2. Incorporate the “pay yourself first” method in your life. When payday rolls around, be sure to tuck some of that money away in savings to ensure that if an emergency pops up, you’re covered! This will also help you cut down on impulse purchases.
3. Discover the fun that “no-spend” weekends can provide. The weekend is typically a popular time to go out and splurge, but you could instead pick one or two weekends a month to stay in or find fun free activities. Check out your local newspaper, perhaps there are free, family-friendly activities that you can enjoy. Is there a project you’ve been wanting to start at home? A “no-spend” weekend is a great time to get that going. Remember, fun does not have to involve your wallet!
4. Create your own fall decorations. Fall is a popular time to try your hand at home decorating, but instead of running out to the store to buy those decorations, why not take the DIY route? Chances are you have plenty of supplies hiding in plain sight at home, which means little to no money needs to be spent on your fall décor!
We’d love to hear some of your fall money-saving tips, so let us know what you do to save up for the winter season!
